I've always got a few ideas in my head. I've got bits of paper everywhere with sketches that might someday be the genesis of a sculpture or wall panel. If you look back through them you'll often see the starting point - a particular dominant shape, a form or a composition that gets recast and refined over numerous sketches until it is eventually echoed in wood.
